A cheaper alternative to Easton bars, but no less good looking (I'd even say better looking) or good performing.

Overall Rating

The Review
Much like Fox forks, they're probably expensive initially, but will pay off for themselves in the long run, so I'll give this 5 stars for value. IMHO, its the best seatpost one can get.

Strengths
Not for absolutely weight weenies, but I'd take component strength over light weight anytime.

The Review
If you can afford it, get it, I have no regrets with this one! Even if you can't afford it yet, take my word for it, save to get it. You'll be patting yourself on the back later! :D

Strengths
No real weakness though weight weenies might not like the weight. If I want to be nitpicky, these would be the "weaknesses": gotta store the fork upside down, and the paint seems to come off a bit too easily. Hard to mix and match paints to touch up any scratches.

Want something that looks good, different from conventional wheels and performs well? Then this might be the wheelset for you.

Strengths
Can be a bother to true as not all shops are able to do it. I experienced that twice, and to make matters worse, it was at the end of the week when the lbs I got the wheelset from was closed. Make no mistake though, the wheels only started to need truing after around 1000km.

These brakes are bang-for-buck and do their job with no complaints.

Strengths
Weight? I plonked money down for these brakes to stop me fast, not to be lightweight. So in this case, they do what I paid them to do.

 Giant Anthem 1 2008 Giant Anthem 1

Brand:  Giant

Category: MTB - Full Suspensions

" Awesome! "

Overall Rating
Reviewed on: 25th Jul 2008 from Singapore

The Review
Change out the already good Fox F100RL fork to a F100RLC one on the shopfloor if your budget allows, then get a nice and lighter wheelset and you're ready for hard aircraft-carrier-launches.

Shimano XT drivetrain and hydraulic disc brakes are excellent, as are the RaceFace (RF) bits. Might want to change the RF seatpost though, have read reviews that don't seem to be too good.

The bottom line is, it's pretty much like a Nissan GT-R. Not as exotic as say, a Lamborghini, but it sure gives more expensive and exotic vehicles a lot to think about. Definitely the same or a lot more value and performance for half the cost of an exotic bike.

The Anthem, compared to my NRS, has a much more mischievous character. It almost seems to grin and come back for more when you chuck it around corners, making last minute split second corrections halfway into the curve. The Anthem simply shrugs them off with ease, digs the excellent stock Michelin xCR Dry[2] tyres in and takes you along for the ride.

In other words, if you have SG$3400 to SG$4200 (for upgrades) to spare, this is the full susp XC bike to get. It hasn't been getting rave reviews for nothing!

The most bang for buck bike I'm aware of thus far!

Strengths
Fast. Relatively light. Makes me feel like a lump of meat that's too slow for the bike.
