Brand: Transition Bikes
Category: MTB Frames: Hard-Tails

Description: The new Blindside is taking over the top spot in the Transition Bikes lineup as our largest travel bike. Designed to be quick and easy to throw around with just the right amount of travel. The bike is extremely versatile with DH friendly geometry like a lower bottom bracket and slack headtube for railing corners at high speed. We also desinged this bike to shine in freeride environments like Whistler where you need a bike that can handle any situation. From steep technical rocky sections to massive drops and jumps, the Blindside can do it all. | | Availability: Available Now | | # FRAME FEATURES: 205mm (8.1") Rear Wheel Travel | # Fox DHX 5.0 Coil 8.75" x 2.75" stroke or DHX 5.0 Air 8.75" x 2.5" | # 6000 Series Heat Treated Aluminum | # Sizes: Small (17"), Medium (17"), Large (17") | # Current Production Run Colors: Really Bright Orange, White, Raw | # Last Production Run Colors: Black, White, Raw | # Decals: Decal Kit with 4 sets of decals in Black, White, Green and Red | # Frame Weight: 8.6 lbs (without rear shock) | # Complete Bike Weight Range: 39-44 lbs (Depending on Rear Shock and Fork) | # 1.5" headtube | # Custom Floating Disc Brake Option Available (direct mount 8") | # Compatible with up to 8" dual crown forks | # 12 x 135mm thru axle Dropouts Standard (10 x 135mm QR dropouts available for purchase) | # 73mm bottom bracket spacing | # Accepts up to 8" Rear Disc Brake Rotors | # Easily fits up to 2.8" rear tire | # Front Derailleur Compatible with E-Type Derailleur | # 1 year defect warranty, Lifetime crash replacement | | # BUILD SPECS: Shock Specs: 8.75" eye-to-eye x 2.75" stroke, Rear Pin 22.2mm x 8mm, Forward Pin 22.2mm x 8mm | # Front Derailleur: Shimano e-type, top pull top swing | # Bottom Bracket: 73mm x 118mm | # Headset: 1.5" (deep cup compatible) | # Seatpost: 30.0mm | # Seat Clamp: 34.9mm | # Rear Dropout Spacing: 135mm x 10mm or 12mm (10mm = QR, 12mm = thru-axle) | # Disc Brake Mount: International Standard | # Standard ISCG Mounting Tabs

The Review
I guess if we only had one bike, the blindside could do it all.

I bought both bikes off ebay... preowned... its a long story why I ended up with 2 bikes.

The DH set-up is overkill for Singapore really.... but just so nice to have 2 ;-)

So my friends who have no bike have no excuse when I ask them to try MTB ;-)

Overall a do-it-all bike but not for weight weenies.

Low bottom bracket both a boon and a bane. haha.

Plush yet pedals well, climbs like my Preston.. respectable but not like the prowess of a dedicated XC bike (assuming same rider ability)

I have not found the limits of the bike's ability because my own ability is lower than what the bike can take.

The more time I spend with the bike.. the more I like it.
Everytime I push the ante up a bit, taking rocky sections etc... the bike just ups its ante as if telling me "go on push harder... don't worry, I'll save you.. u old clod.... haha)

maybe 1?... the low bottom bracket... found myself clipping the trailing pedals sometimes.. nothing scary... just not used to having a 8" full sus bike hitting ground w pedals... and it's not the shock bottoming out... it doesn't.

weight issue for weight weenies... well.. if I wanted to spend...I guess I could get the weight below the 17kg of the "XC" Blindside
